I am teaching at Rosemont Elementary School in
Gaithersburg. I have the 4th & 5th grade students, and am there every
morning of the week. The printmaking project was funded by the
Gaithersburg Arts Council. It is the first time they have had a visual
artist at their school. We have been making collograph plates, which we
will print on paper that some of the print companies have donated for the
project. The plates were constructed using recycled materials such as
cereal boxes, corrugated cardboard, feathers, and material donated by a
fabric store in Gaithersburg. The final project will be printed on
material and sewed together in a quilt format. It will be mounted and
displayed at the school. Maryland Printmakers donated the use of the
Conrad printing press for this project.
