President's Letter

Dear Membership

It has been a fast and furious summer. I am working with a terrific Board of Directors. They are very supportive, energetic and helpful in breaking me in to the inner workings of the organization. I want to personally thank each of the board for being so dependable and hard working. I want to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the organization and see what would be the best way for me to contribute as your president. It is my goal in these first few months of my presidency to really familiarize myself with records, lists, files and processes. I am currently reviewing our slide registry!

As you can see there are many exhibition opportunities for Maryland Printmakers early fall. We also have terrific paying teaching opportunities available for the fall using the organization's printing press. Please take advantage of these opportunities.

Thank you all for promptly updating your membership and addresses. The Board is working hard to update and organize the current mailing list. If you haven't yet responded to this request, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that we have your most current personal information available because of upcoming special events, exhibitions, educational opportunities and 10th Anniversary festivities.

I am planning to attend the Third Biennial Mid America Print Council Conference in early October, which will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio. I also plan to attend the Southern Graphics Council Conference in March at Arizona State University. I think these conferences create great opportunities for the Maryland Printmakers to extend their boundaries and hopefully interface with other print alliances nationally. The chance to create exhibition exchanges is a goal I wish to pursue as well as possibly developing artist residency exchanges.

More ideas are simmering!

Respectfully,
Susan Goldman
